The rating controls in The Filter provide a slider control with a 10 point scale. Each rating is accompanied by an English language equivalent, e.g. 0% on the negative side is "Never show me this again!" and 100% on the positive side is "A new kind of awesome." Middling ratings are "Not for me", "Average", and "This is good."

It looks nice, but i'm afraid people will not see it as a slider. Maybe if it would just after the loading of the page move from the right to the left, and than stop at the end result position. This could stimulate people to use this slider.

To complicate things, the behavior was a little jerky on my Mac Firefox setup. I like to have it here to compare to the other ratings controls.
A ball versus a bar seems less intuitive as a bar for the slide control. A bar gives the definite impression of gripability. But to be fair, you can simply click anywhere along the scale to move the ball to that position.
